Girls field hockey has fun-filled season

This year's Carlisle Field Hockey team had a fun-filled season of learning and growth. Our team worked on building team unity, conditioning and stick skills. We ended the year with an entertaining Halloween-themed practice where the girls competed in small group scrimmages, a long drive contest, and a team spirit award. The league of teams that we compete with expanded with the addition of two new teams from Westford. It is great to see the league develop as the interest in the sport increases.

Our team improved with every practice and game. This progress could not have happened with out the help and support from the experienced eighth-grade players. Amy Seifert, Brittany Geoffroy, Casey Tarca, Chrissy Cornish, Elena Shieh, Emma Lunig, Haley George, Katherine Price, Liza Faulkner, Olivia Arnow, Sam Hankey, Sarah Ganek and Siobhan Galligan were an integral part of our team. We will greatly miss these girls and wish them well as they continue on to high school.

In addition to our skilled eighth graders, our seventh-grade players were a substantial part of our team. Abby Ostrom, Alisha Deary, Danielle Pedra, Daria Koehlert, Georgia Guttadauro, Kate Boudreau, Krista Stengrevics, Mairead Murphy, McKenzie Dray, and Nikita Singhal all came to the field in September ready to add to what they learned the previous year. Many of the girls had improved their skills at various Field Hockey camps over the summer. Although our sixth-grade players were small in number, they made up for it in positive attitude, talent, and an eagerness to learn. We are glad that Allie Blair, Julia Lesses, Katelin Durbin, Lucy King and Val Cadell decided to take a chance and try a new sport. We look forward to seeing our players return next year and having many new girls join the team!
