First dance at CCHS a big success

The first dance of the year at Concord-Carlisle High School was held last Friday night, September 17, in the school cafeteria. This was a dance sponsored by the CCHS Class of 2007 for freshmen and sophomores only. Students were asked to come in casual dress and were urged to wear a favorite hat or headpiece and be eligible for the "Best of CCHS" award.

According to sophomore parent Suzanne Brown, who had volunteered to chair the event, the "Hat Dance" was a great success, which brought 345 students together for the first social event of the year. "The parent participation was terrific. There were 50 parents helping out. They were involved in publicity, chaperoning, supplying food and drink... We couldn't have done it without the parents," said Brown.

And Brown did not forget the students. "They were polite, courteous, respectful of others, and there were no issues. The whole evening was refreshing and they want to have another dance. The students were responsible for making it work."

Parents, students and administrators alike look forward to more successful dances and social events in the year ahead.
