Writers recommend yoga

To the Editor:

We are a part of a small group of people who have a wonderful way to start the week. We attend a yoga class in Union Hall at 9 a.m. on Monday morning, which has been taught by Rich Chapelle for the last five years. We are writing to encourage other Carlisle residents who are curious about yoga or about our particular class to give it a try. It's too good to keep it a secret.

Although admitting to being skeptical at first, we have both found this regular yoga workout to do all that people claim about yoga. It relaxes at the same time as building strength, stretching tight muscles, and enhancing balance. Rich is a Kripalu yoga teacher, and his classes have a nice blend of active work, specific postures, and quiet breathing. The class meets Monday and also Wednesday mornings from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Attendees can sign up for one or two sessions a week. Rich welcomes a trial visit by anyone interested if you call him ahead, 1-978-779-0351

If you have questions, feel free to give either of us a call. (Cindy 1-978-371-2284, Midge 1-978-369-5385).

Carlisle Youth Commission will again host Friday Night Live

To the Editor:

The summer has come to its usual abrupt end and the new school year is already upon us. I hope that all middle school students are looking forward to this year's series of Friday Night Live. The Youth Commission has planned these events so that our middle school kids can enjoy a fun night out with their fellow students. Friday Night Live happens on the first Friday of every month — including, for the first time ever, January! Watch for notices in upcoming Mosquito issues and in the Buzz.

At this time I would like to welcome our new CYC members, Jan Burke and Lori Canavan. We look forward to having you join our team. Returning for another year are Mike McSweeney, Nicole Bloomfield and Jim Harris. Many thanks for your continued service and dedication.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing members, Kim Donovan and Kathy Hassey, whose efforts over the years have meant so much to the success of Friday Night Live. Kim has spent two years on the Commission, as publicity chair and treasurer. Kathy has spent six years on the Commission, the last as chair. We thank you for being involved in making such a positive contribution to our town and our children's lives. I know that I speak for all present CYC members who thank you for volunteering your time, energy and effort to make our school and community a little bit better.
