BB gun accident sends youth to hospital

Emerson Hospital notified Carlisle Police that a 16-year-old Carlisle youth had been shot in the foot with a BB gun on April 19. It was an accident that happened on the youth's property and in the presence of his father and was entirely within the law. Massachusetts laws (Chapter 269; Section 12B) stipulate that no youth under 18 shall have an air rifle or BB gun in possession unless accompanied by an adult while in any place to which the public has access, unless he is the holder of a sporting or hunting license and has on his person a permit from the chief of police in the town in which he resides, granting him the right to have the gun in his possession.
