Carlisle Animal Hospital sold to vet chain
Pets visiting the Carlisle Animal Hospital may not notice any changes, but long-time human customers will be surprised to learn the business was sold last November. Owner-veterinarian Peter Morey sold his practice to the Healthy Pet Corporation of Fairfield, Connecticut, founded in 1997. On its web site, Healthy Pet explains it "has acquired 27 veterinary hospitals on the east coast and continues to expand through strategic acquisitions." They currently own ten animal care facilities in Massachusetts, including Belmont Animal Hospital and Lancaster Animal Hospital.
Veterinarian Betty Johnston continues to work at the hospital, a staff member at the hospital explained. However, when asked if there are any personnel changes she said that Morey has retired. When asked multiple times, she would not provide the name of the replacement doctor, instead suggesting we contact Morey for an explanation of his retirement.
Reached at his New Hampshire vacation home, Morey told the Mosquito that he was not free at this time to discuss his situation. He explained he sold "just the business, not the land, or the building." He had planned to stay at the hospital working part-time, but a changed occurred in February, one that deeply disappointed him. "I am limited in what I can say," he continued. "I might be able to share more information after the end [of April]," he concluded.
Healthy Pet states that their mission is "to assist veterinarians to grow professionally and maintain a better balance of work and personal life."
