Carlisle runners lead the way in boys cross-country

The Patriots' powerful and deep running squad was led by senior captain Ben Phillipo and junior captain Joe Carpenito, both of Carlisle. Carlisle runners led the way for CC this season, as sophomores Matt and Ben Phillipo, Carpenito, and senior Emeric Bojarski all competed at the varsity level. Concord-Carlisle went into the season a little nervous to be without a dominant runner but in the end, their depth pulled through as the Pats won the Dual County League title at Franklin Park and placed ninth at the state meet, scoring 224 points at the Northfield Mountain Recreation Center. Carpenito won the DCL meet, was twelfth at Eastern Massachusetts Championships (16:50.41 ) and seventieth at States in 17:48.72. Carpenito was not always the Patriots' top runner. He often shared the position with Taylor Burmeister of Concord. The Phillipos were a tough-to-beat brother duo. Ben and Matt placed seventeenth and nineteenth at EMass Championships respectively and led the team at states placing 61st (17:40) and 60th (17:39.61) respectively. Bojarski was 37th at EMass Championships and 96th at States in (19:10.78). This season proved the durability of C-C's powerful cross-country team. The team dug deep and pulled through with their fourth straight DCL championship.
