Girls cross-country team places fourth at States

The girls cross country team had a great year, placing fourth in the state championship in the post-season. The team had a Dual County League record of 7-1, falling behind Lincoln-Sudbury in the regular season, but beating them at the league championship meet, EMass and States. The team placed second in the league championship and EMass. Another one of the season's highlights was placing first at the Bay State Invitational at Franklin Park. Varsity Carlisle girls included seniors Laura Bryant and Caitlin Quinn, junior Caitlin Holland, sophomores Jill McElligott and Cassi Knight, and freshman Olivia Cooney. Laura Bryant has been on the team for four years and was also a varsity letter-winner last year, and at the top of many JV races. Quinn received her first varsity letter this year and has also been on the team for four years. Holland has been on the team for one year and will be one of the four co-captains for next year. McElligott earned her second varsity letter, and made great strides this season coming back from an injury, placing herself in the top seven runners, and running at both EMass and States. Knight placed second at the league championship, sixth at EMass and the States meet. She also broke the CCHS 2.7-mile course record with a time of 16:36. Cooney had an amazing season, placing first in many league meets, and first at the league championship freshman race. She was also in the top seven, running at EMASS and States. Seniors Evelyn Caruso, Susan Modeen, and Stephanie Ivanov, sophomores Melissa Judson and Joanna Orlando, and freshmen Estelle Faulkner, Pami Anderson and Catherine O'Kelly made up a large part of the JV squad. The JV team overwhelmingly won all their league meets.
