Student arrested for bringing BB gun to CCHS
On Tuesday, September 30, a 17-year-old Concord resident and a member of the senior class of Concord-Carlisle High School was arrested for bringing a BB gun to school, along with a small amount of marijuana. He was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a class D substance and disturbing the peace.
Although the gun was not loaded and the student didn't seem intent on hurting anyone, the gun · a small air pistol that shoots BBs · is considered a firearm under Massachusetts state law. The student faces a ten-day suspension from all classes and school activities, and will be arraigned in court at a future date.
Principal Arthur Dulong stated that although this incident was of concern, he doesn't believe people should be concerned about the safety of students at the school. In fact, "Multiple students reported the possible danger to the community," he said. "Concord-Carlisle High School is an extraordinarily safe high school."
