The five men in red suits painting the police station are prisoners from the Billerica House of Corrections, made available by the sherriff's office. The deal is that the station furnishes paint, scrapers and lunch, which is ordered from Daisy's, and the state, upon request, furnishes the labor. On September 9 the Carlisle Board of Selectmen discussed the report, "Evaluation of Wireless Facility Demands in Carlisle, Massachusetts," with members of the Planning Board. "Land values have gone through the roof," was Town Assessor John Speidel's short explanation for the 24% average jump in property values, as calculated by the current town-wide reassessment. Speidel and members of the Carlisle Board of Assessors met with the Selectmen on September 16. The average property value had an increase of about $153,000. ...more

The preliminary 2004 re-valuation assessments will be available for public disclosure on Monday, September 22 in the Assessors' Office in the Carlisle Town Hall, at 66 Westford Street. The values will also be available at the Gleason Public Library.

These values are pending Department of Revenue review.
