Wetlands mapped on 70 acres off Cross Street

The Conservation Commission (ConsCom) has given a final okay to the delineation of wetland resource boundaries on 70 acres of land on Cross Street between South Street and Bingham Road. Two of the four parcels are currently owned by developer William Costello and two by Laurenston Ward, but Costello was the applicant in all four filings.

Site inspections were conducted on the properties in early August by Tim O'Sullivan of ENSR, Peer Reviewer John Rockwood of EcoTec and Conservation Administrator Sylvia Willard. On August 14 engineer George Dimakarakos from Stamski and McNary provided the commission with revised maps depicting the boundaries and incorporating the findings of the peer review.

The final Order of Resource Area Delineation (ORAD) was issued by ConsCom at its September 4 meeting. Their action is only a preliminary step in whatever plans the applicant may have for the parcels involved. Its sole purpose is to establish the extent of ConsCom jurisdiction based on an agreed-upon wetland configuration. None of the persons involved have indicated the nature or extent of the applicant's plans for the property.
