Selectmen seek candidates for Town Clerk job
The Carlisle Board of Selectmen is seeking candidates for the position of Town Clerk, vacated by the death of Sarah Andreassen. According to law, the Selectmen may appoint an interim Town Clerk to serve until the next Town Election. In the interim, Assistant Town Clerk Irene Blake is fully authorized to perform any duties of the office.
Blake was appointed Assistant Town Clerk last winter by Andreassen, who recognized the need in the face of her illness. The appointment was offically certified by the state.
Since the Town Clerk position is elected, it must be filled by a Carlisle resident. Selectmen Chair Tim Hult speculated that the two positions of Town Clerk and Town Accountant, both held by Andreassen, may be split, depending on the available candidates.
Blake wishes to continue as Assistant Town Clerk and is not a candidate for the open position.
