Shorts from the Selectmen, July 29
· Revenue Anticipation Note. The Carlisle Board of Selectmen voted to authorize the Treasurer to borrow two million dollars to cover the town's bills until anticipated tax revenues are received in the fall. The short-term debts will be repaid by December 5, 2003.
The Selectmen questioned the large size of the borrowing. Town Administrator Madonna McKenzie explained that the town would save money by borrowing two million all at once, rather than splitting it into two or more smaller RANs, as was done last year.
· NStar. NStar Electric Company requested permission to construct a guy wire and anchor for pole 5/105 on Bedford Road near the intersection with Skelton Road. Selectmen postponed a decision until more information could be gathered on the exact location and whether the wire might pose a danger to pedestrians, bikes or automobiles traveling near the edge of the road.
