Larry Barton appointed new treasurer/tax collector
Barton has been a member of the Carlisle Finance Committee since July of 2000, and served as chairman this past year. "He is really very, very well qualified," said Town Administrator Madonna McKenzie. While he has not held any municipal finance positions, except the FinCom, McKenzie continued, "he has extensive experience with banking relationships, accounting staff and information technology staff."
Barton has worked as a senior financial executive for a number of high-tech firms. A resident of Carlisle for 17 years, he lives on Elizabeth Ridge Road with his wife Karen and daughters Teresa and Makayla.
Barton was the unanimous choice of the search committee, which reviewed over a dozen applications and conducted interviews with the top three candidates. The search committee included Selectmen Tim Hult and Tony Allison, Personnel Committee member Doris Jeffarian, as well as the Town Administrator. Allison said that all three finalists were well qualified.
Linda Boucher, who filled in as Acting Treasurer/Tax Collector, will return to her prior position as Assistant Treasurer/Tax Collector.
