Larry Barton top choice for Town Treasurer
Larry Barton has emerged as the Board of Selectmen's choice for the combined position of Town Treasurer and Tax Collector. At their meeting on July 29 the selectmen authorized Town Administrator Madonna McKenzie to negotiate a salary with Barton. Appointment is expected to follow once salary negotiations are completed.
Barton has worked as a senior financial executive for a number of high-tech firms. For the past three years he has been a stay-at-home dad and a member of the Carlisle Finance Committee, serving as chairman this past year. A resident of Carlisle for 17 years, he lives on Elizabeth Ridge Road with his wife, Karen and daughters Teresa and Makayla.
The search committee included selectmen Tim Hult and Tony Allison, Personnel Committee member Doris Jeffarian, as well as the Town Administrator. The group reveiwed just over a dozen applications, and conducted interviews with the top three candidates. Allison said that all three finalists were well qualified. The search committee unanimously recommended Barton to fill the Treasurer/Tax Collector post vacated by Ann Vandal last December.
