Handicapped parking fine approved
In order for the police department to enforce the handicapped parking restrictions, the Board of Selectmen must vote to set a fine for this offense. Police Chief Dave Galvin appeared before the Selectmen on May 20 to recommend a $100 fine. This will be the first time townspeople have been faced with the threat of a parking ticket, something our neighbors in surrounding towns have endured for years. It brought a wistful sigh from member John Ballantine, who viewed it as the passing of another era in Carlisle's history. However, none of the board members disputed the policy of fining those who illegally park in handicap locations and they voted 4-0 to set the fine at $100.
