New fire department captain named
Chief David Flannery announced the appointment of J.J. Supple of Sunset Road as the new captain of the fire department effective April 1. Supple was selected from a list of five candidates from within the department and replaces Jonathan White who was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in January. J.J began his service with the fire department in June 1995 when he was appointed as an auxiliary firefighter. He received his emergency medical technician training in 1996 and was promoted to regular firefighter status in January 1997. J.J. moved to Carlisle in 1994 and is a Massachusetts licensed builder who owns his own contracting company. He holds a B.S in communications from Emerson College and has attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.
Captain Supple's duties and responsibilities will include education and training activities including the new aerial ladder and rescue tools. He will also be providing direction and supervision on emergency calls, maintaining equipment and the fire station facilities. One additional but important role of the Captain is to assist and support the Deputy Fire Chief in the day-to-day operations of the department.
