Two policemen receive awards
Two Carlisle policemen were honored at the seventh annual U.S. Attorney's Office Agent Award Ceremony on April 4 for outstanding investigative work. Lieutenant John Sullivan and Inspector Scott Barnes received the award at a ceremony at the Federal Courthouse for their investigation of the kidnapping of a Brook Street resident in April, 1998. The kidnapping was only the tip of an iceberg which led to the identification, arrest, and sentencing of four individuals for crimes preceeding and subsequent to the kidnapping.
Eighty-two persons representing federal, state and local law enforcement agencies were recognized at the award ceremony, including officers who conducted the investigation of Richard Reid, the so-called shoebomber. All of them, in the words of the award, had "committed themselves to ensuring our quality of life here at home."
