The varsity girls soccer team included two strong Carlisle players, Sam O'Keefe and Tara Callahan. Both O'Keefe, a sophomore, and Callahan, a junior, were starters on the team and will be returning players next year. Callahan played as right back and was a strong player on the team. Although she had some problems with injuries, she played every game and was a tough player on the field. O'Keefe played left mid and had her moment to shine in the team's second game against Newton South (NS). C-C's first game against NS was a 5—0 loss. In their second game, the score was tied when O'Keefe shot a pass to her teammate Emily Green who scored the winning goal. The team also had a tremendous game when they played the Westford varsity team who had been 2—1 and had been a Dual County League Champ for four years in a row. The game had been going back and forth between the teams and was tied 3—3. But in the second half, C-C scored the last point and walked away with a 4—3 win. Although the soccer team had a record of 4—12—2, Coach Nancy Slocum reported that the team had improved so much during the season and really learned to work as a team. Coach Slocum also looks forward to seeing both O'Keefe and Callahan on her team next year.
