Hunting Season

The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) has established the fall open season for hunting as shown (in part) below. Abstracts of the 2002 fish and wildlife laws may be obtained from the town clerk's office in the Town Hall on Westford Street.

Pheasant 10/19- 11/30/02

Coyote 11/01- 02/28/03

Deer (archery) 10/14— 11/23/02

Deer (shotgun) 12/02— 12/14/02

Fox 11/01— 02/28/03

Gray squirrel 10/19— 01/02/03

Opossum 10/01— 01/31/03

Raccoon 10/01— 01/31/03

Deer hunting hours are 1/2 hour before sunrise until 1/2 hour after sunset. Hunting for fox and coyote closes at midnight. There is no hunting on Sunday.

State law prohibits releasing arrows or discharging firearms across or within 150 feet of any hard-surfaced highway, or hunting on the land of another within 500 feet of any dwelling or building in use, except as authorized by the owner or occupant.

Carlisle bylaws state, "No person shall hunt, fire or discharge any firearms or explosives of any kind within the limits of any highway, park or other public property, except with the written permission of the Board of SelectmenNo person shall hunt, fire or discharge any firearm or explosive on any private property except with the written consent of the owner or legal occupant thereof, said written permission must be carried upon the person."
