Hanscom Field to be new jet airport?
from the May 16, 1973 Mosquito
The Massachusetts Aeronautics commission will hold a public hearing on plans to develop Hanscom Field in Bedford. The first one will be Wednesday, May 16 at the State house in Boston and the one for our area will be in Concord at the town house on Monument Square.
All those interested in the impact that any changes made to Hanscom Field might have on Carlisle are urged to attend. Action groups are forming in all surrounding communities.
At the May 10 meeting of the Lincoln Citizens Aviation Policy Association a long-range policy was outlined to provide continued citizen input emphasizing a balanced transportation program for the future. Their stand for Hanscom Field is that operations should be reduced by the amount that the air force is now pulling out.
Petitions against the expansion of Hanscom Field are being circulated in Acton, Bedford, Concord, Carlisle and Lincoln and Lexington. All residents (not just voters may sign. In Carlisle, this petition will be at the Carlisle Bakery.
