Shorts from the selectmen, June 4
• Speed limits reduced. The selectmen voted to reduce the speed limit along parts of Maple Street and East Street from 40 mile per hour to 35 miles per hour. Police Chief David Galvin had asked the Massachusetts Highway Department to review the speed limits after the town recently created a bike and pedestrian lane and repainted the road lines.
• Haying on conservation lands. The selectmen voted to approve haying agreements for three parcels of conservation land. Gerald Cupp was given a two-year agreement to mow fields on the Greenough Land. George Fraser and Richard Shohet currently mow Bisbee and Fox Hill, respectively, and were granted three-year renewals.
