Dog walkers invited to April 6 meeting at State Park
Great Brook Farm State Park has been a favorite location for dog walkers from Carlisle and surrounding areas for many years. Unfortunately, the 2001 season saw a larger number of dog-related complaints than in past years.
To address these complaints, the park considered limiting off-leash dog privileges at Great Brook. However, after talking to many concerned patrons, the park decided to initiate an education campaign for all Great Brook dog walkers. This campaign is a temporary reprieve to give the dog community an opportunity to improve the situation. Educational brochures which outline the most common dog-related complaints and provide suggestions for respectful management of off-leash dogs have been produced by a group of concerned patrons in cooperation with the park.
On April 6, at 9 a.m. interested dog owners will be meeting at the Great Brook Farm cross-country ski parking lot with park supervisor Ray Faucher to arrange for the distribution of these brochures to the park's dog walkers. The public is invited.
If you are unable to attend the meeting on April 6, but would like to assist in the effort to reduce the number of dog-related complaints at Great Brook Farm State Park, please contact Mary Ann Callahan at 1-978-649-7905 (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Judy Asarkof at 1-978-287-4575 (Oggimanni@aol.com) to learn more about how you can help.
