Economic justice discussion January 6
The social action committee of the First Religious Society has scheduled a special Sunday morning service on economic justice January 6, to be conducted by The Reverend Dorothy Emerson, artistically enhanced by guitarist Martha Leader. Emerson, a graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, is executive director of the Unitarian Universalist Women's Heritage Foundation and author of the book Standing on Our Own.
The talented duo was commissioned by the Wright Tavern Center for Spiritual Renewal of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Concord to help deepen awareness of the widening gap between "haves and have-nots" in our society and in the wider world. The issue has assumed increased urgency since the sobering events of September 11 and its aftermath. Follow-up events are being explored by a social action committee study group.
