· Andrea Fine, a sixth grader, and Alexander Brako Saydet, a fourth grader, will perform with the Treble Singers in "The Nutcracker" as danced by the Northern Ballet Theatre and orchestrated by the Indian Hill Symphony on December 8 and 9. Sam Martinborough, the director of the Treble Singers, holds auditions for the group in September and January. Call 1-978-486-0540 to inquire about tickets or the singing group.
· Ben Hoffman, a seventh grader at the Carlisle Public School, has been selected to the prestigious Lightning Baseball of New England 13-Year-Old AAU baseball team. Ben was one of 16 players chosen from more than 75 players from Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine who tried out over five sessions this fall.
Ben plans on trying out as a catcher, pitcher,
and outfielder. Head Coach Rick Petersen, also an Associate Scout with
the San Diego Padres, says "Ben has a good chance to be one of
our top players. He has excellent arm speed for a 13-year-old. We clocked
him on the radar gun at 69 m.p.h. He also is the fastest player on the
team. His 60-yard dash time of 7.6 is one of the fastest we've ever
recorded for a 13-year-old."
