Annual Christmas contra dance/potluck
The Christmas contra and square dance will be held in Union Hall at the First Religious Society on Friday, December 14, at 8 p.m.
Dudley Laufman will make his annual pilgrimage to Carlisle from New Hampshire to join in the festivities. He will join Sue Rosen in calling the dances, will lead carol singing and play the fiddle and concertina. Dudley's wife Jacqueline will join musicians Debby Knight, Bruce Rosen and Walter Lenk.
All dances will be taught; no partners or experience necessary. Everyone is welcome. A $5 contribution is requested at intermission. A potluck supper before each dance will begin at 6:30 p.m. Call 1-978-369-6678 for more information.
Newcomers coffee on December 11
The Concord-Carlisle Newcomers Club would like you to join them at the next welcome coffee on Tuesday, December 11, at 10 a.m. We will gather at the home of Georgine Feldt, 650 Concord Road in Carlisle. Call Georgine at 1-978-369-6111 or Pat Kovach at 1-978-371-9078, for all information.
Friday Night Live tonight
The last Friday Night Live of 2001 will be tonight, December 7, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The exercise room in the Corey Building will be "The Place" to listen, sing along, and dance to music brought to you by our venerable DJs, Mike & Mike. The gym will, as always, be available for basketball or ping pong (including a ping pong volley contest). The spacious hallway will be the home for chess or checkers.
Carlisle students (public or private), in sixth to eighth grades, are welcome to attend in December, but anyone who does not yet have a completed permission form on file must bring a parent or guardian with them to fill one out. The youth commission would also like to thank all parents who help out when they are called to chaperone. Your presence keeps things running smoothly.
A $3 contribution at the door allows the program to be self-supporting. Pizza and soda are sold for a small cost. Students leaving before 9:30 p.m. must be signed out by a parent. Parents are reminded that, especially in colder weather, students should be picked up at 9:30 p.m. sharp. Call Kathy Hassey at 1-978-287-4284 with any questions.
Library card time for kindergartners
All kindergarten students may now receive their very own Gleason Public Library cards. If other family members have missed out on obtaining their library cards, they are also welcome to come. They'll be getting the best bargain in town.
