Carlisle Girl Scouts take part in Concord's annual flag burial ceremony

Carlisle Girl Scouts Amanda Fabrizio, Siobhan Galligan and Camilla and Chloe Vilain participated in Concord's annual flag burial ceremony on Veterans Day. This is a lovely ceremony at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in which old flags collected over the past year are burned to retire them in a respectful manner. A Carlisle Girl Scout and Concord Boy Scout led the Pledge of Allegiance to commence the program. The ceremony was attended by Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, a fife and drum corps, politicians, and townspeople, all of whom participated in the presentation of the flags for burning.
