State announces anthrax hotline
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has announced an anthrax hotline number. It is 1-617-624-6200.
Although there have been no reports of contaminated mail in Carlisle, the town's emergency personnel are advising a cautious approach. Deputy chief David Flannery of the Carlisle Fire Department says that residents should be reviewing mail as soon as it comes into their hands. Both he and police chief David Galvin suggest that residents should look at the return address. If mail has suspicious materials, such as powder or wires, leave it where it is, don't let anyone touch it, and call 911 or the Carlisle Police at 1-978-369-1155. Then get out of the immediate area.
