Polystyrene foam drop-off moved to Concord
Due to problems associated with lack of transportation and unavailability of volunteers, changes have been made with the scheduled October 13 foam drop-off hosted by the Carlisle Household Recycling Committee.
Instead of dropping off your styrofoam behind the transfer station, residents are asked to bring their clean cups, meat trays, block foam packaging, egg cartons, etc. directly to the Concord department of public works on Keyes Road between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Concord's REUSIT (recycling group) has a foam drop-off area that is part of their bi-annual recycling day. The foam that is collected is then shipped to Framingham where it is commercially recycled. A donation of $4 per trash bag of foam is requested to offset the costs of transporting the foam to the recycling company. This must be paid by check only.
Foam peanuts will not be accepted. Clean foam peanuts can be delivered directly to shipping stores such as Mail Boxes, Etc. for reuse. The Carlisle Household Recycling Committee hopes to host another foam drop-off day in Carlisle in May of 2002.
