Carlisle School honors volunteers

Ten school parents were singled out and presented with flowers and a certificate by Superintendent Davida Fox-Melanson and Principal Andy Goyer at the school committee meeting Tuesday evening, May 22. Noting that "volunteers are a welcome and vital part of our school community. The spirit in which they give of their time and talent enriches our school, and serves as a role model of community service for our students."

Amy Mestancik and Christy Barbee were honored as charter members of the new Carlisle Public School Volunteer Hall of Fame. Acknowledging their efforts, Fox-Melanson said, "These two volunteers...have embodied, year after year, an extraordinary commitment to the Carlisle Public Schools."

Fox-Melanson also said that this year over 90 volunteers will be honored at the Volunteer Tea but that certain individuals should be recognized for outstanding volunteer efforts in the 2000-2001 school year. These volunteers are Jonatha Wey, Debbie Dawson, Susan Struss (not present for the picture), Wendy Clark, Donna Carter, Rich Colman, Jeff Brown and Nicole Bloomfield. The members of the school committee were also congratulated as important volunteers to the school.
