Carlisle Rec needs pools
To the Editor:
The Carlisle Recreation Commission has been offering swimming lessons to children for decades. We do this without a town swimming facility because Carlisle homeowners with backyard pools generously donate the use of their pools for six weeks each summer.
We have two pool owners (the Hugheses and the Forsbergs) who share their pools every single summer. We are forever grateful for their continuing commitment to the swim program.
We need two more pools for our program this summer. The best donors are those whose pool is sitting unused all day. We run a safe and insured program with no record of accidents. Over 300 children a year learn to swim and be safe in water because of this program. If you can help, please give us a call at 1-978-369-9815.

Old Home Day Association seeks donations
To the Editor:
Now that Memorial Day is past, which, by the way, is a Carlisle tradition that reminds me of why I love living in Carlisle, we can now begin thinking more seriously about another Carlisle tradition -- Old Home Day.
Old Home Day, as you most likely already know, is Carlisle's 4th of July celebration. Old Home Day is planned and run by a group of Carlisle residents who all share at least one thing -- a love of the town. We are a group of people who volunteer our time and efforts to ensure a fabulous celebration for all. We depend upon fellow townspeople's donations to help fund the day. We have many expenses, from mailing the program to renting the dunking booth, a port-a-potty, hiring two musical groups (one to play on the eve of the Fourth at the ice cream social and the other to play at the cakewalk/firefighters BBQ) and much more. Without donations, this day would not happen.
If you have ever been to Old Home Day, have wanted to help out but just do not have the time, consider making a contribution. Checks can be made payable to "The Old Home Day Association" and sent to me at 299 Heald Road.
Thank you in advance from the entire Old Home Day Committee.
