Growth has changed the face of Carlisle town government and presented a variety of new challenges to the town's selectmen. They are on the front lines as the town wrestles with issues such as effectively organizing town government to meet the demands of growth, keeping financial balance when townspeople are requiring more services, and preserving the essential character of Carlisle as new development reduces open land and brings an influx of more affluent people to town. Recent interviews with each of the selectmen probed their greatest challenges, their major concerns, and the issues that will be paramount in the coming years.
