On October 11, Joan Rosazza of Prospect Street, a silver medalist at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, will be inducted into the New England Women's Sports Hall of Fame 2000. Rosazza was a member of the U.S. Women's 400-meter free-style relay team that placed second. She also swam in the individual 100-meter free-style competition, placing fourth, one-tenth of a second behind the bronze medal winner. ...more

The Carlisle School Committee and school administration are grappling with the question of whether to continue to allow the Carlisle Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts to use the school buildings for meetings. This is a concern because of the recent United States Supreme Court ruling that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is a private organization and can legally exclude gay youth and adult leaders and any other groups as they choose. The Minuteman Advisory Group on Interlocal Coordination (MAGIC) representatives came to their first fall meeting September 11 with a strong message for both state and federal agencies involved with transportation projects in the MAGIC area.
