Lack of communication on negotiations
Carlisle Board of Selectman Chair Michael Fitzgerald sent a letter to Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee chair Lauren Walters to express his concern about not being included in teacher negotiation meetings.
Fitzgerald had been appointed the Carlisle community representative, according to the Education Reform Act, which meant he should have been informed of the meetings and seated as a full member with the regional school committee in their deliberations. However, Fitzgerald stated that he received notification of only three meetings, fewer than one-third of those that were held. To his dismay, Fitzgerald only learned that negotiations had been finalized from an article in the Mosquito in June. Angry that the law was circumvented, Fitzgerald said he would like to know how the breakdown in process occurred and what can be done to prevent it from happening again in the future.
