Fire departments praised for work in battling Concord blaze
In the wake of a devastating fire on May 4 which tore through an office building near Route 2 in Concord, Senator Susan Fargo praised the quick response and cooperative effort of all fire departments in and around the Fifth Middlesex District. In all, 18 fire departments, including Carlisle, Bedford, Lexington, Lincoln, Sudbury, Wayland, Waltham and Weston arrived to assist their Concord counterparts.
"Even in light of a terrible tragedy such as this, it is truly heartening to see such a quick and comprehensive response by surrounding communities to help the Concord Fire Department control this situation," Fargo said. "All of those involved should be praised for their efforts in the true spirit of helping one's neighbor in a time of need."
Fargo has contacted Governor Paul Cellucci's office, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Concord Chamber of Commerce to inquire what additional assistance can be provided for the professionals who lost their office space.
"Right now, we know MEMA is investigating this matter to see what type of financial assistance can be provided to the tenants of the Concord Professional Center," Fargo said. "The Concord Chamber of Commerce should also be commended for their help in looking for alternative office space for these professionals."
This press release was submitted by the office of Senator Susan Fargo.
