Kristen Raftery weds William Bowen
Kristen Brooke Raftery, daughter of Tom and Jan Raftery of Concord Street and Chatham, and William Jay Bowen, son of Priscilla Bowen of Stowe, Vermont and William J. Bowen of Lake Forest, Illinois, were married on June 12, 1999 at the Stowe Community Church in Stowe, Vermont.
A reception was held at the Stowehof Inn and Resort in Stowe, Vermont. Guests from Carlisle included Ed and Sue Heald, Mickey and Susan Sarcia, George and Lisa Foote, and Grant and Helene Wilson.
Kristen, a graduate of the University of Vermont, is employed as the Director of Marketing and Guest Services at Stowe Mountain Resort. Jay, a graduate of Boston College, is the owner of Eastern Painting and Refinishing Systems.
After a honeymoon on Nantucket, the couple resides in Hyde Park, Vermont.
·Aaron Andreassen, 25, formerly of Cross Street, using the skills he learned when he was a member of the Carlisle Fire Department, alerted neighbors to the possibility of a fire in his apartment complex in Georgetown, Kentucky. Andreassen's quick response brought the Georgetown Fire Department to battle a fire which swept through and destroyed two units and could have caused substantially more damage to the complex.
Andreassen is a graduate of Minuteman Technical High School and last December graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
·Dr. Andrea Richman, Carlisle's dentist on Westford Street, celebrated the 20th anniversary of her taking over Dr. Amy Wu's dental practice in Carlisle. To celebrate on Monday, Dr. Richman brought in lunch for her staff of nine, including Dr. Elizabeth Starr.
Unfortunately it was a day the staff, on arrival, was greeted with flooded office space.
· Carlisle residents performed Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem" with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall last week. Under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, Richard Bissell of South Street, sang with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus while Wendy Putnam, a regular member of the orchestra's string section, played violin.
· Megan Miller of Fiske Street, a CCHS senior, received this year's DAR Good Citizen's Award. This award recognizes senior high school students who demonstrate the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
