Bus 5 gets help on slippery roads
Bus 5 needed some help getting to the top of Judy Farm Road on Thursday, January 13. Driving conditions had become increasingly slippery during the day, and Judy Farm and Heald Roads were sanded during the day. However, that wasn't enough: Bus 5 slid back down the hill and, according to Gary Davis, superintendent of the department of public works, it took a second truck and a plow to get the bus up the hill.
Davis said the timing of the bus trip "couldn't have been worse" since heavy new snow had fallen on top of the sanded snow. All of the DPW trucks were out sanding the main roads, which is always the first priority, when the call came in. No one was hurt and there was no damage to the bus.
