Soccer girls division one win 3-2

The exuberant girls-under-12 division one team finished a 5-1-2 season with a 3-2 triumph over North Reading. Co-captains Lizzie Butler and Sam O'Keefe opened the scoring in the first fifteen minutes for an early 2-0 lead. Sarabeth Henderson, Julie deJesus, Emily Cote, and Ariel Morrison formed an impregnable wall on defense, preserving the shutout at halftime. North Reading surged back into a tie in the second half with Butler's brilliant saves in net stopping further damage. Julie Gray, Stevie Pearl, and Elise Lehotsky then became whirlwinds on offense leading to a flurry of shots finally capped by a perfectly positioned winning goal by Sarah Takvorian. Abbie Rolando, Nora Bussolari and Anna Parrott completely owned the midfield for the remainder of the game sealing the win. For the season, the Blue finished 4-0 and avenged their only two ties with subsequent wins. Although out for the last game, Elizabeth Andrewes, Jill McElligott, Damara Hawley, and Ashley McManama all made crucial contributions during the season. With eleven different players scoring at least one goal, great teamwork and fun were the watchwords for this group of athletes and friends.
