State park staffing restored
While the state has cut the budget for seasonal staff at parks across the state, Carlisle's Great Brook Farm State Park has been spared.
According to Great Brook park interpreter Rebecca Markey, she had heard that only funding for staff at three parksWompatuc, Plymouth Rock and Walden Pondhad been approved. However, on October 6, park supervisor Ray Faucher learned that state officials had found the funds which will allow Markey to continue in her educational role. In a telephone interview, Markey speculated that public pressure and extra consideration due to pre-scheduled school tours of the Cranberry Bog had helped them to recoup their funding.
