A Summer of Fun at Camp Carlisle
Kids in Carlisle finished summer camp with a bounce this year. The castle-shaped bouncing chamber was the culmination of six weeks of summer activities for children. Between 60 and 72 children participated in Carlisle Recreation's K to 4 Program each week. They learned swimming, tennis, and soccer, with lots of time for arts and crafts, reading and games. Special activities included a magician, a hip hop dance performance, gardening, ceramics, painting and origami.
Web page design and video editing were two new programs offered to children entering grades 4 to 8. Kids designed their own Web pages and created a variety of videos including music videos, commercials and stop-motion animations. Many of the old favorite programs were also available including golf, tennis, canoeing and kayaking, basketball and horseback riding camp. Safety is always important and children learned safe babysitting skills, water safety, and bicycle safety. Children biked to fun destinations including the Lexington bike path, a miniature golf course, as well as to a refreshing pool party. Projects of pottery and ceramics were among the treasures that will endure from this summer at Camp Carlisle.
