Girls soccer beats Burlington

The Girls Under 12-2 team finished a successful 6-2-2 season by avenging an earlier loss to the Burlington 1 team, 2-0. Playing half its games against opposing towns' first teams, C-C still finished with the second-best 2-team record in the Middlesex League. Goal one was a classic. Damara Hawley tapped a corner kick short to an alert Hannah Tarolli who fed it back for a soaring cross by Hawley. The stunned Burlington team froze for a moment as Sam O'Keefe calmly netted the ball. The game was still a nail-biter until two minutes left. Lizzy Butler had beautifully fed Libby Stout whose shot was barely deflected. O'Keefe again was there to cash the ball, which had rolled just beyond the keeper's fingers. Alison Probolus then added excitement at the end with a near head-ball goal. The entire team was great with especial kudos to Nora Bussolari's relentless crosses, Tarolli's saving defense, and the consistently high quality play by departing "seniors" Lindsey Burton and Sam Stern.
