Girls U12-2 bow to Burlington, 1-0

The GU12-2 team dropped their first match of the season 1-0 to the Burlington One team. Field possession was decidedly in C-C's favor most of the day, but finishing continues to be a problem. Keeper Lizzie Butler earned the first half shutout with several aggressive moves, including one diving save which sent the opposing attacker sprawling. Ariel Morrison was a human highlight film on defense, at times ranging way upfield to preempt a pass and disrupt Burlington's offense before it got started. Sarabeth Henderson continued her string of sparkling games at sweeper, pestering would-be shooters with her quick feet and startling recovery skills. Nora Bussolari and Anna Parrott worked some pretty overlap plays in the first half, resulting in some of C-C,s best chances. Halfway through the second half, Stevie Pearl made a great steal, earning a breakaway on goal that unfortunately slid wide right, despite major body English supplied by sideline parents.
