Second-grade team bats 1,000 at CSC
Second-grade teachers Linda Clark, Donna Clapp, Heather Swift and Lynn Walker shared the second-grade curriculum with members of the Carlisle School Committee at their February 2 meeting.
They presented slides showing their students doing various activities. They talked about their balanced literacy program of reading and writing which is an extension of the program introduced in first grade.
The team also explained how the curriculum is integrated around topics. Using the bat unit as an example, they showed how the students read and write about bats, do bat math with pattern blocks and measurements, learn about bat anatomy and echolocation in science, and discover where bats live in social studies.
