Book sale thank-you
To the Editors:
The Friends of the Gleason Public Library thank the many people who made the book sale a great success. The sale raised $3336, over $800 more than last year (a 24 percent increase). The proceeds support technology and ongoing services at the library, as well as special events such as the summer reading program, the pumpkin spectacular, annual lecture, and community potluck supper
Our special thanks go to John and Kathleen Forelli for the use of their barn where the books were stored and then sorted, and to the First Religious Society for hosting the event, as well as providing delicious nibbles at their cafe.
Hosts of hidden heroes helped: the folks who sorted at the barn, the sign mavens and box czar, the FRS men who prepped the tables and the incredible 7 a.m. team that moved and set up the books. Cashiers and those who stocked and straightened the tables labored through the day. Let us not forget those who returned on a beautiful spring afternoon to pack, move and distribute the remainders.
Our last and biggest hurrah goes to two sectors whose support was and is critical to the library: the good folks who dug into their closets to donate books, and those who dug into their pockets to buy booksólots and lots and lots of books.
Our thanks to all; let's do it again next year!
