Special Town Meeting

Article 1: Reserve fund transfer

To see if the town will vote to transfer $47,000 from the FY98 short-term interest account known as the Reserve Fund to provide for extraordinary or unforeseen expenditures.

The motion to approve this article carried unanimously.

Article 2: Costs associated with O'Rourke land

To see if the town will vote to transfer $47,500 from free cash for costs associated with the town’s purchase of the O’Rourke property, including but not limited to legal expense, bonding, insurance costs and survey and engineering.

The motion to approve this article carried unanimously.

Article 3: Town Hall funds

To see if the town will vote to transfer $12,000 from available funds to offset additional costs associated with the construction of the new Town Hall.

The motion to approve this article carried unanimously.

Article 4: Taking O'Rourke by eminent domain

To see if the town will vote to authorize the selectmen to acquire by eminent domain, for general municipal purposes, the property owned by Thomas and Wimberly O’Rourke consisting of six acres of land, more or less, identified as that portion of Assessor’s Map 12, parcel number 3A, assessed and taxed under Chapter 61A, and property owned by O’Rourke Carlisle Corp. consisting of 120 acres of land, more or less, identified as that portion of Assessor’s Map 12, parcels numbered 4, 5, 8 and 10, assessed and taxed under Chapter 61A, and to authorize the selectmen to enter into all agreements and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary to acquire such property.

The motion to approve this article carried unanimously.
